Gram was full of creative decorating ideas and Grandpa was a handyman who could make her creative wishes come true.It was a place of fun and adventure – riding imaginary horses on oak tree limbs, searching for treasure following home-made maps, donning beautiful thrift store formals while entertaining pretend guests on the side patio, and rocking a stray kitty to sleep while playing veterinarian – just to name a few!Dad's health has declined massively since February this year.
He can't be left for more than 15 mins so I do a couple of shifts a week to enable my Mother in Law to get out & about. :) My mum started showing signs of dementia in 2001, was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2003 and moved into a specialist dementia care home in 2005. My first contact with the Alzheimers Society was back in 2004, when I met the local rep.In the same way, I have found Talking Point to be a similar safe haven where you can rant, cry, confess or simply ask a question without being judged. NB The photo of Mum was taken one Christmas shortly before she became ill and she's clearly enjoying a glass or two of (probably very sweet) sparkling wine..This became a daily reminder of the person she was for the vast majority of her life, and helped me through some tough times.Elizabeth and Phillip weren’t in love when they were told to marry one another. And Elizabeth noting that she was a 17 year old KGB recruit who’d never dated and then was put into an arranged relationship, with no end in sight, did say a lot about how and why she’d seek someone else.
